How a recovery dive works
- Tell us the lake and the spot. The more precise the location, the better the odds
- Send a photo or a map pin of where you were standing when it went in; that alone narrows the search a lot
- We search the bottom on scuba, by hand and with a metal detector where it helps
- Silty bottoms need slow, careful work so nothing gets pushed deeper in
Where we search
Wherever it went in. A lake, a river, a gravel pit, a canal, a marina, a well: it does not have to be a dive site and most of the time it is not one. Around Belgrade and Novi Sad we can be there soonest; the rest of Serbia is a matter of agreeing a date rather than a same-day call.
Common questions
My phone just went in. What should I do right now?
Fix the spot before anything else. Line up two landmarks on the bank, drop a pin on a map, throw in a bottle on a line if you have one. Anything that turns “somewhere along here” into a few square metres. That reference decides more than any other single thing whether we find it. And if the phone is waterproof and might still be alive, do not keep calling it. Save the battery for when a diver is actually down there, because that is when the ring, the vibration and the screen light turn into a beacon.
What does it cost to recover a phone?
€250 if the phone comes up, €100 if it does not. Travel, gear and gas are included in both, and there is nothing to add afterwards.
What if you don't find it?
You pay €100. The dive costs us the drive, the day and the gas whether the phone comes up or not, so that part pays for the search. The rest you only pay for a result.
What makes a recovery complex?
Faster rivers, an item lost in the middle of a river, a spot nobody can point at, a search area instead of a few square metres, or real depth. Those dives take more planning, more gas and often a second diver, so they are priced per the conditions rather than off the two numbers above. You get the price before we go.

Keys, cameras and action cams, jewellery, fishing gear and outboard propellers. If it sank and you can point at roughly where, it is worth asking.
I lost a ring, not a phone. Same thing?
Same dive, same two prices. Wedding bands, earrings and watches come off in the water more often than phones go in, and they are harder to trace because there is no splash and no ringtone. Everything about fixing the spot counts double.
Will the phone still work when you bring it up?
Usually not, and that is the wrong thing to hope for. What survives a night on the bottom is the SIM and often the storage, which is what most people actually want back: the photos, the numbers, the app that holds their two-factor codes. Do not try to charge it. Take it to a repair shop the same day and ask them to read the chip.
How fast can you be there?
Call and you get a real answer rather than a promise on a web page. The spot, the day and who is free decide it, and it is shortest around Belgrade and Novi Sad. The fastest thing you can do while you wait is fix the location and stop calling the phone.
Do you dive in winter?
Yes. Cold water is a gear question and we dive it in drysuits. Ice cover stops us, and so does a river running high and brown after rain. If the day is not divable we say so instead of taking your money for a dive that cannot work.
Where do you work?
For an emergency we can reach quickly, around Belgrade and Novi Sad. We go further across Serbia too, but those trips need planning ahead rather than a same-day call, and not every location is one we can dive.
