The prominent cross on the rocks is above one of the deepest parts of the lake. Directly below the cross is a wall going strait down from the water surface to around 125m depth when the lake is full.
Good buoyancy is required to keep depth as the wall is vertical and the depth is great underneath.
The cross is an easy reference to take a good compass heading from the entry point.
