Lake Bohinj

Slovenia's largest and deepest mountain lake

Loading map...

Bohinj is the biggest (3.3 km²) and deepest (45 m) mountain lake in Slovenia, inside Triglav National Park. The diving is all in the shallows: life covers the shore down to about 7 m, and below that the bottom goes to bare silt. Surface water reaches 25 °C in late summer while the depths stay at 4 °C. There is no current in this part of the lake, but tour boats run close to the point, so a marker buoy is not optional.
