Lake Bled
Diving the shallows under the castle
Loading map...
Bled is a tectonic-glacial lake at 475 m, two kilometres long, 30 m deep at its deepest point. Almost none of that depth is worth diving: the life is in the warm shallows along the shore, and below 5 m the water turns cold and the bottom goes to bare mud. Water lilies and weed cover the banks to about 5 m with large fish through them. The surface reaches 25 °C in summer, the depths stay at 4 °C.
